Adventures within reach of adults and children
The Madonie Park is the ideal place to venture with the whole family. The splendid panoramas, the walks, the discoveries, the woods, the games along the itineraries that it offers are an invitation to learn and appreciate this place, no less captivating the local gastronomy. In short, an opportunity not to be missed!
The Asiniddaru Mill
Of the 13 mills, built between 1156 and 1800, most are now ruined or incorporated into other buildings. Thanks to the evocative "itinerary of waters and mills," they are still representing the territory symbolizing the History of Scillato. The "Asiniddaru" mill is the one that best preserves not only in the environment but also some of the elements of the working mechanism.
Arches and Aqueduct
Pathways and water mills are a concrete example of how the area, without disruption or substantial changes, holds the key elements for an effective sustainable and innovative tourism promotion. Built between 1156 and 1800, the horizontal-wheel water mills have suffered the assault of time, but thanks to a great conservation work they are still representing the story of the area today. A well-preserved mill can be found in the vicinity of the Gazzara Gorge (where the remains of two ancient water mills are located).
Targa Florio Museum
Targa Florio was funded, created, and organized by Vincenzo Florio, entrepreneur from a rich family in Palermo, addicted to the new meaning of transport and well-known for having joined some competitions at the beginning of the century. In 1905, he established the Coppa Florio (a car race in Brescia).
Visiting the unique Targa Florio Museum you can see important photo collections, unpublished documentaries, objects, and precious relics of the legendary road race.
